It’s the fourth annual West Bridgford Legion CC T20 Day!
The venue for the day is our historic home ground of West Park, on Loughborough Road, West Bridgford (between Asda and Trent Bridge). In the 1930s, West Park hosted the Julien Cahn XI, named for the eccentric benefactor of the ground. Four first class games have been played at West Park and it remains a quality venue for local recreational sports.
The schedule is:
11am – West Bridgford Legion CC v Lincolnshire Poacher
2pm – West Bridgford Legion CC v Sutton Bonington CC
5pm – Sutton Bonington CC v Lincolnshire Poacher
There will be a barbeque and bar available through the day, selling drinks hot and cold, soft and alcoholic, including real ale on gravity from our friends at the Lincolnshire Poacher.
This year, we’re also raising money for the Nottinghamshire Leukaemia Appeal.
We’re fundraising for this fantastic cause because, sadly, our secretary (and club legend) Chris Roper is currently undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia. We feel really strongly about supporting the work the NLA do, and so to help raise some donations towards them, we will be holding a raffle on the day. Local businesses who have very kindly donated prizes include:
Eyesore Merch – two free t-shirts
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club – two tickets for any County Championship game
The Botanist West Bridgford – meal and cocktail for two
Hopology – three bottles of real ale in a gift box
Waterstones West Bridgford – three books
Mad Dog Sports – £30 voucher
We will also be auctioning a Notts Outlaws shirt, signed by Harry Gurney (ex-England international, current Notts T20 star bowler).
Friends, partners, family, partners’ families, and everyone in the community who fancies watching some local cricket are all welcome.
